Our Story

The Boma Prize for Africa has built a pan-African entrepreneurship and empowerment ecosystem across Africa. With four programme pillars, a growing diaspora presence in the United States, have provided a platform for small business owners, startups, and young entrepreneurs to bring their dreams to fruition through capacity building for business scale up, institutional funding and sustainability.

We have successfully trained 2,400 entrepreneurs across 34 African Countries ( Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) with ripple effects across different countries to improve livelihood.

These training included a virtual and in person pitch contest showcasing innovative ideas; capped with the Boma Prize for Africa Award to support businesses amounting to a total of 20,000 USD. This initiative has resulted in job creation, improved livelihood and development across the communities of beneficiaries.
