The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Initiative is a program of the Boma Prize for Africa designed to promote mental wellbeing, emotional resilience and psychosocial support among entrepreneurs, youth, professionals, community leaders and vulnerable Africans across the continent and in the diaspora.
The initiative recognizes that mental wellbeing is essential for productivity, leadership, innovation and community development. Through awareness campaigns, education, peer support and referral services, the program seeks to reduce stigma, increase access to information and strengthen individual and community resilience.
The Boma Mental Health Storytelling And Awareness Campaign.
This initiative will leverage storytelling to raise awareness on the connection between social-economic challenges, trauma, and mental health struggles. Participants will create short monologue videos sharing personal experiences, survival and encouragement with a call to action directing viewers to the Boma Tribe Circle.
The best entries will be selected through a hybrid evaluation system that will combine organic engagement and community support with a Judges’ Score. The Judges’ Score will be based on criteria including Authenticity, Emotional Impact, Relatability and Clarity of Message, Alignment with Mental Health Awareness, and Responsibility. Selected entries will receive incentives aligned with the items on their wishlists.
Our aim is not just to raise awareness but to do so through real life stories that inspire strength, offer support through the Boma tribe services and help make participants wishes possible through a curated wish list.
